Partner Q&A: Yvette from Paper With Style

Meet one of our fabulous partners, Yvette, from Paper with Style who creates a wonderful range of paper artwork that can be personalised with a name. Her beautiful artwork provides the perfect finishing touch for children's rooms

How long have you been in business and what inspired you to start?

I am the owner of Paper With Style, I launched the business a year ago and I am based on the Northern Beaches of Sydney. As a mother of two young children I wanted to decorate their bedrooms in an individual and special way. My vision was to use modern and stylish wall art to help create a unique and personal space for them to grow. I searched to find classic wall art designs that would not out grow them. I struggled to find anything like this in the retail market that was of high quality, affordable and unique. This was my inspiration for launching Paper With Style. All my designs have various 3D textured elements and can all be personalised to include a child’s name. I can style all colours to match and complement my clients themes and create designs from newborns to older children.

What do you find the most rewarding and most frustrating aspects of running a business?

Managing the creative direction along with being my own boss are key elements to running my own business that I find very rewarding. I am also very humbled with the overwhelming positive feedback I receive from my customers. I am also thrilled with how far my wall art has traveled. One of my first orders was sent as a gift to the UK and I have also had orders from Hong Kong to Eastern Europe. The main frustration I have is balancing my passion of running my own business and the time I also want to spend with my family.

Who or what is inspiring you at the moment?

My inspiration comes from so many places, my children constantly inspire me, the materials I use, talking to friends, shopping and generally living life. I would also have to say that my customers also provide me with constant inspiration, just when I think have a favourite design or colour combination I get a new custom order and feel inspired all over again.

What is your favourite product in your range and what is the most popular item?

We have such a diverse range, my favourite design changes from week to week. Currently our “Enchanted Tree” design along with our various butterflies designs are currently very popular for the girls and one of my most popular designs out of these is the “Butterfly Washing Line” This unique design has six 3D butterflies held by miniature pegs and the name of the child is personalised with scrabble tiles. For the boys the Train, Sailboats and the three Playful Robots are very popular and the child’s name is also personalised with scrabble tiles.

What are your future plans for your business?

I am still overwhelmed with the growth of my business in our first year. In the future we plan to expand our range of designs and branch out into other product areas.

Do you have any tips for other creative businesses?

My advice would be to follow your dreams, If you have an idea for a unique product spend as much time as you can researching the market and believe in yourself.
